Geoff McGann’s career began at Wieden+Kennedy, Portland, in 1987, where he was one of the initial, principal creative forces behind the Nike “Just Do It” campaign, where he had responsibilities as both a writer and art director.
After over ten years at W+K, Geoff left W+K to pursue a freelance advertising career for dozens of agencies and clients worldwide, whilst hosting private and public gallery shows for his fine art photography, along with developing branded content properties, primarily for W+K.
In 2009, Geoff held a CD position at 72andSunny, working on in-house clients as well as beginning the in-house ad school 72U, which he built in year one, and ran in year two.
In 2012, Geoff headed back to Portland to co-direct WK12, the in-house ad program at Wieden+Kennedy.
Currently, Geoff is a professor at the VCU Brandcenter, where he is in his second year. He also maintains his freelance advertising consultancy and writing career, along with his gallery work…which includes photography, film, stained glass…and bomb watches.
